Health care providers who receive an electronic health record incentive payment for the Medicaid Incentive Program may be subject to an audit to ensure Meaningful Use (MU). The HTS team has extensive experience in ensuring ongoing grant compliance activities. Several of our consultants are current and former auditors or administrators with federal grants compliance experience. HTS provides a number of risk assurance services, including assisting states with Electronic Health Record (EHR) programs and Meaningful Use (MU) requirements in Florida.
HTS conducts Meaningful Use audits in Florida and South Dakota. HTS is also responsible for enhancing and maintaining the EHR Incentive Program Audit Toolkit, recently updating the Audit Toolkit for Stage 2 Meaningful Use (MU) changes. As part of our contract with MeT, HTS staff is responsible for Communities of Practice (CoP) including the Health Information Exchange (HIE) CoP and Audit CoP. Our experience in grants and Federal compliance helps to ensure that funds are properly allocated, expended, tracked, and tied to specific deliverables throughout the life of the grant.
HTS understands that grant funding provides the foundation for strategic success, and that both state and Federal partners anticipate projects will continue to add value to programs and business operations. HTS conducts an annual audit risk assessment to reflect any program changes or trends that were determined based on findings and observations. Changes to procedures and risk assessment are recommended to states for inclusion to their existing audit plans. HTS conducts field work directly with providers. HTS staff contact providers, conduct question and answer sessions, provide education on MU and provide guidance on the overall audit process. HTS reviews provider submitted information, documents work papers, record any findings or observations, and propose recommendations to state sponsors.
